Gummy Smile

First, a practitioner examines your gummy smile to determine where the injections will be placed. Then, two injections with a muscle relaxant are administered under the nose and above your upper lip. The muscles that pull up your upper lip are relaxed. The upper lip will pull up less during smiling, reducing the visibility of the gums.

During smiling, lines or folds may also appear next to your mouth, which are also called nasolabial folds. These folds can make you look older, even if you’re not. You can reduce their visibility with fillers. A filler treatment fills in the folds so you no longer have to worry about them. Furthermore, the treatment is painless, so anesthesia is not necessary.

The optimal result is visible after just two weeks. You’ll see less gum when smiling, and you have (again) a radiant smile. Muscle relaxants have reduced the upper lip from pulling up, reducing the visibility of the gums. Your upper lip itself can be accentuated with muscle relaxants with the lip flip.

If you’re not satisfied after the two-week period, you’re welcome for a follow-up. This appointment should take place within 2 to 4 weeks after the treatment. The effect will last about 3 months. After a treatment, you can move the injected area normally. Within the first 48 hours after treatment, do not massage or rub the area, unless advised by the cosmetic doctor. It is possible that you may experience bruising or swelling after treatment; in this case, it is advisable to cool the area.

Bruising can be camouflaged with makeup a few hours after treatment when the puncture holes are closed. Furthermore, you should not exercise within 48 hours after treatment and avoid saunas or sunbeds for 2 weeks after treatment. UV exposure can make the skin extra sensitive and affect the result.
