Labia surgery Zwanetta

Two years ago, Zwanetta Fox underwent a labia correction at Faceland. A procedure that is performed daily in our clinic. When we announced that Zwanetta was undergoing the operation with us, we and she were inundated with questions. In collaboration with Zwanetta, we then made several videos to answer these questions. In this blog I will list all the questions for you!

WHY DO YOU WANT A LABIA SURGERY?

I have actually wanted to have a labia correction for a long time. I notice that my labia cause me a lot of discomfort. I’ve been suffering from it for a long time. I especially suffer from it during sports. I dance a lot, but it also sometimes gets in the way when cycling. Underwear sometimes really doesn’t fit well. I would like to get rid of these complaints. I hope a labia surgery will solve my problems.

For me, the labia surgery is really for medical reasons. I don’t think it’s ugly, but if it makes it cosmetically nicer, that’s a bonus. But that is not the main reason for me to have the operation.

WHAT EXACTLY DOES A LABIA SURGERY INCLUDE?

A labia surgery is an operation in which excess skin tissue is removed from the inner labia. In many women, the inner labia are larger or longer than the outer labia. If you suffer from this or it bothers you, the labia correction can be a solution for you.

WHEN DID YOU KNOW THAT A LABIA SURGERY WAS THE SOLUTION FOR YOU?

It started to bother me when I was about 14 years old. Then I noticed that my inner labia were getting longer than the outer ones. This is of course due to all the hormones. At that age I cycled to school and especially while cycling I noticed that it was increasingly bothering me.

I actually wanted to do it at the time, because it bothered me so much. But of course this was not possible yet, because I was not yet fully grown. Now I am and I know that I still want to solve my problems.

To make sure that the labia correction would solve my complaints, I had a consultation long before my operation. During this consultation I received a lot of information and I got a good feeling about the procedure and the doctor. I was just really too scared to take the step then.

WHY DID YOU HAVE DOUBTS ABOUT THE LABIA SURGERY?

I had already had a consultation a year before my operation. I didn’t have surgery then because I was very afraid of the operation. I found the idea of being awake during surgery very frightening and I am afraid of needles. That’s why I waited.

WHY DID YOU TAKE THE STEP TO UNDERGO A LABIA SURGERY?

After I had been for a consultation, the media reported that I was considering a labia surgery. That caused me to get countless messages from girls who had the same problem. Many girls said that they also wanted to undergo a labia surgery, but that they were ashamed or did not dare.

This gave me the push to do it. I want to help other women and show them that you don’t have to be ashamed of it and that you should do what you want. Especially when it comes to your own body or if you have certain complaints. I just do what makes me happy.

WHAT DID YOU THINK OF THE OPERATION?

I was quite afraid of the operation. I arrived at the clinic and the doctor immediately reassured me. I entered the treatment room and had to undress. I lay down on the operating table and then the doctor started cleaning the surgical area. Everything except the area of operations was covered. Then came what I was most afraid of: the anesthetic injections. An hour before the operation I myself put a lot of emla cream on my labia, so that I would feel less of the anesthetic injections. I was very well anesthetized, because I felt no pain. Some movement, but not painful at all. The whole operation went very well for me. I would do the operation again in a heartbeat, I felt so little. Immediately after the operation I didn’t feel anything, so that went very well.

I also checked after the operation if I could see anything, but it was so swollen from the operation that I really couldn’t see how much skin had been removed.

HOW DID YOU RECOVER FROM THE LABIA SURGERY?

Immediately after the operation I felt no pain, because I was still numb. When I came home from the surgery and the anesthesia wore off I was in a lot of pain. The pain burned very much. Especially after urinating, not during urination. The pain was very intense and unfortunately there is nothing you can do about it except rest and cool down.

The pain was especially intense on the first day. After that it got better day by day. Both the pain and swelling decreased day by day. After two weeks, my stitches started to dissolve. It took me quite a long time, probably because my body doesn’t break it down quickly. Then I could wear underwear again and from then on the recovery went very quickly.

HOW LONG AFTER YOUR LABIA SURGERY WERE YOU ABLE TO WORK AND SPORT AGAIN?

I think recovery is very personal. I was able to dance again after 3 weeks, but you have to feel for yourself when your pain is gone and you can slowly do things again. When you can sit normally again and cross your legs again, because I couldn’t do that for a while. With sports you really have to wait 6 weeks, especially with strength training and weights. After all, there should not be too much pressure on the healed wound. The longer you rest, the better the result!

ARE YOU SATISFIED WITH THE RESULTS OF THE LABIA SURGERY?

At first I wondered if I would be satisfied with it, because it stayed swollen for a long time and the stitches stayed hard for quite a long time. When the swelling decreased and my labia started to regain their own shape, I started liking it more and more. I am now very satisfied with it. The complaints I had before my operation have been resolved.
